Learning
Skills for Science One
of our flagship programmes, supporting professional
development of science teachers. LSS has been established
in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science
and the Nuffield Curriculum Centre. Starting with a
pilot in 2004, the project now involves over 400 teachers
and 80 trainers across England. Courses are also about
to start in Northern Ireland and Wales.

Physics
summer schools
SEP’s equipment and resources formed a major part
of a recent week-long, free residential course to boost
physics subject knowledge, held at Charterhouse school,
Surrey.

teachers from neighbouring schools to discover new equipment,
engage in CPD sessions and develop teaching practices.

ITT project involving five universities, focusing on
ways of teaching students to use and evaluate evidence
to either support or refute claims.

The University of London’s Institute
of Education has been working with schools to investigate
how training can be cascaded through a science department.
