SEP
Practical Equipment
To complement our innovative, low cost resources,
we have designed and developed a range of practical
equipment and materials in partnership with Middlesex
University Teaching Resources (MUTR).
MUTR have previously developed equipment for teaching
technology in schools, and our recent collaboration
has produced a number of exciting materials for
school science.
Equipment and materials are available for practical
work on modern materials, energy and power, electricity
and motors, magnetism, light and optics, and radiation.
Many of our publications include lists of equipment
that can be purchased from MUTR to support the
topic. SEP Teacher Associates are entitled to
a 5% discount on all orders. In partnership with
MUTR we aim to offer equipment which has been
created putting innovation and service ahead of
profit.

Wind
Turbines
Supplied ready assembled, these low-cost
model
wind turbines
can be used by students in a range of investigations
into wind power and turbine design: classroom
resources to support the apparatus are available
in the new publication, Wind
power.

Energy
transfer unit
Specially designed to enable the interconnection
of several discrete pieces of apparatus, this
single
unit demonstrates
a range of different energy transfers, e.g. how
energy is transferred electrically from a hand
operated dynamo to a motor. Downloadable curriculum
resources are available to accompany this apparatus.

Chemical
jigsaws
The chemical
jigsaw kits contain
interlocking pieces – atoms, ions and bonds
- for building representations of ionic and covalent
compounds, with arrows and plus signs to enable
modelling of equations. A fun and effective way
of teaching chemical formulae and equations at
KS3 and 4. Supporting materials, including Flash
animations and Powerpoint presentations, are available
on the Chemistry
jigsaws CD-ROM. |
